At the head of the Humber on 28th September, I noticed 8 Gannets fly west into the Ouse between 1130 and 1230. Also two flew into the Trent at 1130 before turning back and heading E along the Humber, and later two were visible in the distance over E Yorks, circling in the trees (!), before heading E or NE. Also one Arctic Tern in the Trent.

I see on BirdGuides that 23 Gannets were counted flying W at Blacktoft Sands during 0830-1500 (all of which I would have seen had I been looking, I guess), and 16 NE at Howden in the morning.

Post subject:  sabs gull

i do not think i can remember when there have been so many reports of sabs gull before. reports continue this morning from cley.rutland water, farmoor, flamborough, etc etc . yesterday when i was at sandilands another birder reported 3 on birdnet from the same place and i didnt see one till 1 hr later so i guess its just luck really, never saw another birder either but it is a big place.

On the Gannet theme, I found a juvenile at Toft reservoir this morning - a very peculiar site! Also had a female Hen Harrier and a Whinchat - 2 other species I have never seen at this site before. No phalaropes unfortunately tho.

Just for curiosity, anybody know if there has been any documented records of Gannet at this site before?

Cheers
Matt
