juv. red-necked phalarope on reservoir along with 2000 black-tailed godwits

lagoon
2 little stint
1 reeve
2 curlew sand

on sea
1 shag
1 pom skua

Phalarope still there this morning along with 8 little stints and 2730 black-tailed godwits

Also curlew sandpiper and little stint on the lagoon plus spotted redshank on the wetland.

Hi Bob,

Ruffs are so called because of the feathered ruff that the Male has around is neck during the breeding season, and as the females do not show such an extravagant plumage they were presumably given a different name so as to differentiate them.
