After a report of a 'large grey bird with a long bill' waddling across the road at Fonaby Top yesterday, I had a 'phone call this morning to say that the same bird was on the village pond at Great Limber!
Just how a juvenile gannet managed to get itself to this small & very muddy patch of water will remain a mystery as the bird appeared incapable of flight. I contacted the RSPCA, who, after capturing it on a grassy patch behind the village hall, took it into care. There was no obvious sign of injury
