Went on an extra birdwatching sortie to Freiston Shore to see how high a 6.5 high tide gets, and also to see if it assisted my shorebird ID skills. Didn't get as far in as I thought it would, and still had difficulty seeing the birds up close in my bins.

How big does a tide have to be (in x.x terms) before I see birds on the shore clearly?

Species seen:

Possible Merlin heading in the direction of Kirton Marsh
A couple of hundred Oystercatcher on the mud
50 Lapwing
30 Redshank
2 Little Egrets
1 Grey Heron
10 Little Grebe
1 Chaffinch
2 Skeins of Brent Geese
Usual Mallards
50 Shelduck
4 Blackbirds
1 Wren
Many Tree Sparrow
Many House Sparrow
3 Magpies
Pheasant in fields
B-H Gulls
Few Herring Gulls

No soul-pouring today - dinner's ready!
