Further to a report on Birdguide re Whooper Swans on Nocton Fen, I visited the area this afternoon 1.15-1 55.

Whooper Swan - 5 adults on fields at the Wasp's Nest end of the Fen
Mute Swan - 8 adults and 2 juvs
plus:
Barn Owl hunting
Fieldfare c70
RLPartridge 8

En route back to Bracebridge Heath at the road junction B1178 /B1188:
Fieldfare c60
Redwing c30 - the largest number seen in the BBH-Branston area this
autumn/winter.

Regards,

Freddy

still on fields at the Wasp's Nest end of the Fen up to 1.00pm today (Sunday) at least.
Also 100+ Fieldfare around.

Plus - near the road junction B1178/B1188 a large mixed flock of Fieldfare and Redwing still feeding in the fields and hedges.

Regards,

Freddy
