Alkborough Flats this pm in blustery conditions

Green-winged Teal still present
3 Whooper Swan
40 Pinkfeet through
4 Marsh Harrier
11 Black-tailed Godwit
2 Ruff
1 Chiffchaff
2 Bullfinch

Hi there Katherine,

Although Chiffchaffs are mainly visitors to the UK in spring/summer, increasing numbers are now overwintering, most probably due to the milder winters we seem to be getting these days.
Sewage works tend to be the best places to look for wintering Chiffchaffs (if you can stand the smell! :wink: ) as they often provide insects for the Chiffchaffs to feed on.
