2 Nordic Jackdaws ( the race that has a pale narrow grey collar ) have been reported in a field near the cemetry at Willingham by Stow.

Anybody seen them?

Report by Birdnet

Would be an interesting inclusion in Mr Harvey's DVD for 2008

Remember - you can't tick it !

Lee Evans would though

a bit of oversimplification there Phil, both eastern races monedula and soemmerringii show a pale collar, the former is probably a fairly common bird in winter in the UK - if everyone goes out and looks at Jackdaws it shouldn't take too long to find dozens in the county. Interested parties would do well to gen-up at:

Yes - I've been doing just that (looking at lots of Jackdaws) and have had double figure counts of monedula at Baston & Langtoft Pits this winter. It is pretty easy to get bored though.

Certainly nothing soemmerringii-like though, I'd imagine this is a considerably rarer bird in the UK than monedula!

13 Nordic Jackdaws in a flock of c200 corvids at Baston & Langtoft Pits today.

I dread to think how many are in the several thousand corvids that roost on the western side of Langtoft village, though when I checked tonight I only saw three (granted I grilled a very small proportion of the flock).
