Arrived mid afternoon, had a chat with a pal at Far Ings, told me a Scaup and a Little Gull had been seen in the vicinity. Was hoping to see Barton's most famous resident, was told he was here, but our paths never met. :wink:

Far Ings

Smew [drake] - 1 at northern end
Goldeneye [drake] - 1 keeping Smew company
Tawny Owl - 1 [heard]
GSW - 1
Grey Heron - 1
Sparrowhawk - 1
Cormorant - 5
Long-tailed Tit - 12
Mistle Thrush - 2
Little Grebe - 11
Plus Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Pochard, Teal, Mallard, Blue and Great Tit, Collared Dove, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull and LBB Gull, House Sparrow and Magpie.

Chowder Ness

Redshank - 5
Curlew - 11
Shelduck
Golden Plover - c200 [over]
Sparrowhawk - 1
Lapwing - 60

Worlaby Carrs: 16.15 x 16.50

Kestrel - 1
Barn Owl - 1 [ it came into view near the drain and we drove slowly along road while it looked for food, just before we got to railway, I stopped and saw it's eyes in headlights in the grass. It took off with something in its talons, magic! ]

Post subject:  Far-Ings etc.

Well done for seeing the Smew Max,i lead a walk there in the morning,and we could'nt find it anywhere,the only bird of note was a Bittern,which we got excellant flight views of.
