WEATHER CONDITIONS - Windy and nippy.
SPECIES SEEN:
Usual Mallards around the car park
Wigeon - 30
Shelduck - 25
Goldeneye - 6 male, 8 female
Little Grebe - 6
Brent Goose - 150
Canada / Greylag Hybrid - 2 (I originally thought it was a White-front but someone with more sense corrected me!)
Canada Goose - 20
Greylag Goose - 10
Black-headed Gull - 30
Herring Gull - 5, two very vocal
Greater Black-backed Gull - 7 and 4 juveniles
Lapwing - large flock on lagoon
Redshank - 20 or so dotted about
Usual Plover flocks on mudflats.
Cormorant - 2
Tree Sparrow - 3
House Sparrow - 4
Blackbird - 10
Blue Tit - 3
Great Tit - 1
Starling - 15
Magpie - 2
Jackdaw - 1
Pheasant - 8 in fields on the way there and back
Usual Feral Pigeons around and about
No raptors or owls - how on EARTH do I change my luck with these? What's the best time? Would someone like to come with me to improve my luck or point out some missing species? anyone up for that?
