Perhaps of most interest to Lincoln birders I had a phone call from Nick Tribe late this afternoon to say he had found a winter plumage Slav Grebe on todays WeBS count at Apex Pit in North Hykeham. I nipped out and quickly located the bird which was present until dusk.

It is no longer possible to access Apex Pit from the track next to the Fox and Hounds pub on Newark Rd, so use Heron Walk and park sensibly at the end. Cross the grass and climb over the wooden fence to view from the south side of Apex Pit.

Regards

Grahame

Went back this morning to try for the Slav Grebe in better light but despite a 3.5 hour search could not relocate it.
Highlights;-
1 Little Egret roosting in trees on island.
7 Pintail, 4 males.
1 pair Red-crested Pochard.
1 Buzzard.
