TIME: 2:15 - 4:40 PM WEATHER: Settled, light wind, mild and spring-like. TIDE: Well out in the Wash. Firstly, thanks to Simon Rummery of the RSPB who showed me round the Wildlife Explorers place and the feeding station. Thanks also to the two people that let me look through their telescopes. I am probably going to get a Hawke Endurance 23-70x zoom-lensed Spotting Scope. My mind is almost made up on the issue. No new life ticks, owls or raptors for me today unfortunately. SPECIES SEEN: Greylag Goose - 3 Canada Goose - lots Brent Goose - about 200 Wigeon - 100 Mallard - usual near car park Goldeneye - 2 M, 3 F Shelduck - 9 on lagoon, 50 on shoreline Little Grebe - 7 Herring Gull - 4 Black-headed Gull - about 60 Ringed Plover - 3 Snipe - 1 Knot - small group on lagoon, large flock out to sea Lapwing - 2 flocks of about 200 in each Redshank - 35 Curlew - 1 (heard) Golden Plover - usual large flock on shoreline Little Egret - 1 Reed Bunting - 7 Pied Wagtail - 2 Robin - 2 Wren - 2 Chaffinch - 1 F Starling - 30 Blackbird - 10 Tree Sparrow - 4 House Sparrow - 10 Carrion Crow - 40, mostly on the way there Magpie - 5 Jackdaw - 7 Pheasant - 4 in fields, all male Collared Dove - at many places along the way Wood Pigeon - see Collared Dove Foolishly forgot to book for the 'Talon Spotting' event at Frampton Marsh which was today ![]() Simon tells me that the Frampton Marsh transformation is under way. I am really excited by this (especially the prospect of loos at Frampton) and I may start going to Frampton one week, Freiston the next! |

Also at Freiston on Sunday; Common buzzard - 1 south Little stint - 1 on lagoon (2 on Saturday I understand) Pale-bellied brent goose - 1 on lagoon with 1,000 dark-bellied birds Pink-footed goose - 1 on lagoon Golden plover - 2,000 on lagoon Displaying ringed plovers! At Frampton on Saturday; Very quiet apart from four Lapland buntings. John |
