UNEXPECTED SIGHTING: A pair of GADWALL swimming in one of the bordering drains around the wood!

Only a quick outing (while parents shopped at Tesco) as I am fighting off the back-end of the 'flu and have a tight chest.

Others:

2 Skylarks
2 Great Tits in wood
1 Goldfinch in wood
1 Wren in wood
3 Blackbird in wood

3 Pheasants in fields
1 Mute Swan
2 Moorhen
2 Coot
2 Mallard
3 Magpie

2 Black-headed Gull
1 Herring Gull

Group of waders (NOT Lapwings) flying over, northwards. Golden Plover?

Large finch flock on adjacent field (if anyone can help me identify the finches within, that'd be great!)

Usual Doves & Woodpigeons flying around

No swallows seen :(
