About 18.15 the Ring Ouzel was located on the grass bank to the east of the last new pit [at the northern end] at Far Ings, it was in full view for more than fifteen minutes, a guy next to me was filming it, we stood on the track that leads to the farm. Also seen near the path [close to old visitor centre] where the gate is that leads down between the Hotel Pit and Far Ings was a Marsh Tit. See note below. Other sightings at Far Ings: mid to late afternoon Bittern [booming most of the time we were there] Chiffchaff Shoveler Teal Gadwall Greenfinch Tufted Magpie Ruddy Duck Little Grebe Grey Heron Wood Pigeon Coot Mallard Great Tit Tree Sparrow Greylag Canada Redshank Curlew Pochard Sand and House Martin Swallow Mute Swan Cormorant GC Grebe Chowder Ness: !7.15 x 17.45 Shelduck - 126 Avocet - 2 Ringed Plover - 3 Curlew - 10 Redshank - 4 Yellow Wag - 3 Yellowhammer - 2 Oystercatcher - 2 Great Black-backed Gull - 2 Someone told us a Velver Scoter had been seen at Water's Edge, we got there at 18.30 and checked all the water but no sign of it, but not to say it wasn't there. John ![]() 21st April Overnight I now believe that we didn't see a Marsh Tit but a Willow Tit, there was no call and was going on sight alone. Sorry for misleading anyone. Regards John |
