Post subject:  To Town and Back - 4th May 2008

Went up to see what fair rides were in the town centre today and, keeping an eye and ear out for birds, I saw:

Swift - 15
Swallow - 4
Chaffinch - 4
Goldfinch - 5 calling from trees in Central Park
Blue Tit - 1 in trees in Central Park
Robin - 1 on playing area on Sleaford Road, another in Central Park
House Sparrow - 10
Blackbird - 9, one in very good voice in Central Park
Starling - 20
Rook - 8 in trees on Sleaford Road

Variety of Black-headed, Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls
Coot - 1 on North Forty Foot drain
Mallards on Witham and North Forty Foot
Usual Pigeons, Collared Doves.......

Oh, and the first Juvenile blackbird in the garden today, being fed by mum! :D
