My first visit to this location and didn't I enjoy it. Such glorious weather and I only saw one person all morning 8 Wheatears 2 Buzzards - 1 close overhead mewing Lots of Meadow Pipit but I couldn't make any of them into Tree Pipits Plenty of Skylark 1 Cuckoo some distance away 1 Song Thrush 2 Kestrel 3 Lapwing A few Sand Martin and Swallows Plenty of Yellowhammers and 100s' of Rook Unfortunately no Shrike or Ouzels Perhaps not very exciting but so pleasant with warm sunshine on the bones |

Didn't see you! But then I walked in from the steelworks about 2 30pm and didn't go near the dogs toilet which is where most of the wheatears are I'm almost sure I saw the shrike - but I flushed it climbing over the gate (GR 923129 approx) which means it's just the wing pattern I'm going on - so I can't tick it off Saw the same as you plus one more buzzard Also saw a Fox What's not to enjoy ? Wide open skies and skylarks singing their hearts out A great afternoon Bob |
