Hi all
This summary covers Friday 2nd to today Friday 9th May. Again many observers have contributed and everyones records are much appreciated.
Garganey – those that braved the Bank Holiday were rewarded with a superb drake on 5th (was this bird also seen on Sunday 4th? If anyone reading this can confirm can you drop me a PM please) Hobby – 1 to 2 birds seen on most days Med Gull – the adult continues with daily sightings Common Tern – the main influx arrived on 2nd May, now impossible to miss around the various waterbodies Arctic Tern – 1 on Apex Pit today 9th May Black Tern – 4 superb summer birds on Apex Pit today 9th May Turtle Dove – 4 or 5 territories becoming established Tawny Owl – a pair bred in the Oakwood and 2 young Owlets were seen there on the 4th Nightingale – at least 10 singing males have so far been recorded
All the commoner warblers can still be heard/seen (particularly Garden Warbler) except for the Groppers which have now stopped reeling.
