Post subject:  Gib Point today July 20th

First of all our old forum friend Mediterranean Gull 3K45, which has wintered at Chapel Pt these past two winters, was at Gib Point last night and at Chapel Point tonight. In splendid summer plumage.

Gib was a bit quiet today:
Arctic Skua - 1
Gannet - 3
Sandwich Tern - 200+
Common Tern - 20
Little Tern - 40
Montagues Harrier - 2 - incidentally one of these birds has developed a taste for Little Tern eggs and chicks!!
Whimbrel - several about
Greenshank - 2
Spot Shank - 1
Wood Sandpiper -1
Avocet - 40 juvs counted yesterday
Little Egret - 9
Dunlin - 1800
Knot 4000
Sanderling -c 80
Black-tailed Godwit - 80 - several returning ringed icelandic birds

Lastly abject apologies to Derrick Pell for suggesting that his distant ID of the Wood Sand was a Common Sand!!
