While I was preparing breakfast in the kitchen this morning, my wife Inga called out and alerted me to a cc Marsh Harrier viewable from the family bathroom upstairs. We had excellent views of the bird quartering the wheatfield below. It was the first Marsh Harrier I had seen around Bracebridge Heath. It repeatedly dived down in one area and occasionally landed in the wheat but no prey was captured. Then, as the bird flew off across the field, the downstairs smoke -alarm noisily signalled that the bread in the toaster was burnt to a cinder. A few hours later, a Buzzard was seen hunting along the edges of the same field and a Cormorant flew over. All in all, an interesting morning.
Regards,
Freddy
