An unusually plumaged marsh tern flew south with other terns this evening which I think was an adult white-winged black tern in winter plumage. Unfortunately, I did not pick it up properly until it was past side-on as it headed south, but general shape, wing colouration, white rump and some dusky marks on body seen. Didnt get a view of the underwing. Hope it gets picked up somewhere else.
Otherwise, thousands of waders coming to roost, as well as southbound migrants (including 3 greenshank, 2 juv spotted redhsank, 30 golden plover, 3 ruff), thousands of gulls (incl juv Med) and hundreds of common and sandwich terns again, plus 30 arctic skua south and 2 manxies north.
Cheers
Kev
