Quiet on the 30th but the first Goldcrests of the autumn (4) appeared early morning and there was a small morning movement of Mipits (140).
On the 31st a few migrants appearing just before I had to leave with 3 Whinchats, Garden and Reed Warblers and a Tree Pipit over. Rather frustratingly what was quite possibly a Pacific Golden Plover was also heard calling. Initially it was heard twice when it was flying over the fields inland from the ridge at about 8am, and then again calling three more times about 20 minutes later as it flew over the saltmarsh south of the Great Eau. On both occasions I failed to actually see the bird due to the murky sea fret about. One that got away!
In the afternoon, House Martins and Swallows were on the move over Anderby Creek and included 11 Swifts, a Hobby and Sparrowhawk going south. James
