On Saturday a Short-eared Owl was over the saltmarsh. Fairly quiet in the bushes with 4 Redstarts, 6 Chiffchaffs, 5 Blackcaps and 12 Song Thrushes. Overhead a few pipits and hirundines got moving when the it clouded over mid-morning with 520 Mipits along with 3 Siskins and a Redpoll. Still 3 Redstarts today along with an increase in Blackbirds with 30 noted (from yesterday's dozen). Overhead 5 Pink-footed Geese, 16 Siskin and 4 Redpoll went south. Also 100 Goldfinch, 3 Willow Warblers and Northern Wheatear in the area. James |
