Not much to report in the way of unusuals.... Beach / Shore Black-headed Gulls Greater Black-backed Gulls Herring Gulls 2 Cormorant Brent Geese Few Greylag Curlew from rough grassland just inshore Yellowhammers, 2 Dunnocks & Stonechats in bushes Large flock of Goldfinches flew through adjacent to bushes Tennyson's Mute Swan 3 Common Gull Lapwing Bar-tailed Godwit Avocet Redshank Moorhen Coot Mallard Shelduck Shoveler Teal Tufted Duck Little Grebe 4 Pheasants scrapping on nearby field Mere Hide Very little - just 2 Little Grebes, 1 Moorhen and lots of Mallard Lots of Jackdaws and Magpies No time to go into Jackson's Hide, as we (myself and parents) wanted to get a drink and a quick bite to eat in the cafe before it shut. Yellow-browed warbler still around. Firecrest, Redwing, Sandwich Tern & Redpoll reported too. Why do I always miss the lifers, even with a telescope? Longer visit planned some time before I head to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for a hysterectomy operation. Operation date is 12th November. |

28 members of the Lincoln RSPB Group were also on a trip to Gibraltar Point today. With that number of extra pairs of eyes we were able to add to your list incl: Grey Plover Little Egret Black-tailed Godwit Little Stint Gannet Sandwich Terns 3 fishing offshore Water Rail Pochard Swallow House Martin Kestrel Mistle Thrush Don't worry too much about missing those lifers - Yellow-browed Warbler, Firecrest, Redwing and Redpoll. As far as I know, none of our 28 members connected with them either! Regards, Freddy |
