3 short eared owls over saltmarsh 0745 hrs, + 2 stonechats Rimac,
on way in to work, also saw the 2 or 3 SEOs at Pyes hall area yesterday also 1 at Howdens at least 6 on NE coast, so seems a good winter for them so far? cheers John.

The SEO's at Pyes yesterday were all on the wing from 17.00. 2 were on the saltmarsh opp Pyes & a 3rd bird was hunting the haven just inland of Pyes. LIke John has said, hopefully it's going to be a good winter for them - they certainly brighten up a winters day. I can remember years ago taking paert in a co-ordinated survey of SEO's wintering on Binbrook airfield and we counted 21 birds! Unfortunately most of the airfield has long since been ploughed up.
