TIME: 14:20 - 16:30
WEATHER: Cold and windy, but dry
COMPANY: Nowt but the cows.

I think the Slavonian Grebe is back - there was a grebe-sized diving bird in that flooded bit to the right of you when you're walking down to the bank.... it didn't have such a rotund and large rear end as the Little Grebe....

SPECIES SEEN:

Huge, enormous flock of waders far out in the channel, circa 5000 or so. Probably Grey Plover / Knot / Dunlin.

Pinkfeet - 2 groups over
Brent Goose - 3 'flocks' over
Mute Swan - 2
Little Grebe - 2
Little Egret - 2

Redshank - 15
Grey Plover - 6 on little pool close to bank
Lapwing - 2

Herring Gull - 1
Black-headed Gull - few over
Greater Black-backed Gull - 1

Long-tailed Tit - 20-25 in bushes at 'rear' of reserve
Blackbird - 2
Mistle Thrush - 5
Goldfinch - small flock in bushes
Robin - 6
Wren - 4
Hovering passerine, probably Skylark but sun was in the wrong place to get a good view
Starling - enormous flock coming in to roost by South Forty Foot on way back

Carrion Crow - Lots in adjacent fields
Magpie - 9
Jackdaw - 2
Usual pigeons and doves

OTHER: 1 Stoat and 2 Brown Hares.
