I had another hour looking at the sea this afternoon, at slack low water, and in addition to what I saw with Nige this morning: Brents - continuing to pass S in small flocks Bonxie - 3 N C Scoter - 36 s Long tailed Duck - 1s R.B.Merganser - 3 on sea R.T.Diver - 6 on sea G.N.Diver - no further sign Peregrine - 1 imm on sand bank eating prey Also of interest this afternoon was a Pallas Warbler in Buckthorn - this could have been the bird that was ringed this morning but I couldn't get a decent view of the legs. |

Fairly good coverage of the south end of the reserve today too - additional sightings; firecrest chiffchaff 6 sibe chiffchaff - 2 (good candidates!) together - one calling woodcock 5 ring ouzel snow bunting stonechat lesser whitethroat (apparently looked like a standard individual) and about an hour before dusk my other half called me to say that a yellow-browed warbler was coming to the garden pond. Sure enough it was one - although a dull bird, with poor med cov wing bar. Cheers Kev |
