On the 29th vis mig included 260 Pink-Feet and 6 Whooper Swans south. A Lapland Bunting flew over mid-morning and a Merlin gave perched views down to a few feet. Highlight of the day though was a German ringed Kingfisher, apparently only the fifth to be recovered in the UK. Much more about today. Thrushes were arriving before dawn with 200 Redwing, 140 Blackbirds (including one bearing a Norwegian ring), 45 Song Thrushes and 14 Fieldfares grounded. Another Lapland Bunting flew over and there were also 70+ Long-tailed Tits, 25 Goldcrests, 1100 Starlings, 3 Brambling, 40 Chaffinch, 5 Blackcaps, 2 Woodcock, 2 Sparrowhawks and the Merlin. James |

It's amazing to see German Kingfishers in England, I always thought they were residents. Geoff |
