After a good mornings ringing at Donna Nook (90 new birds mostly Thrushes, Goldcrests and Robins) I took the opportunity to have a look at the seals. I am indebted to Geoff Williams and his colleague for pointing out the above. I spoke to the seal warden who said it is thriving on seal placenta! Pallas's Warbler still showing at Pye's Hall at 1400, also male Ring Ousel.

Do you know the age of the glaucous? ( Adult, first year etc.) I saw it in failing light so couldn't tell. I must have been the only person at Pye's today not to see the Pallas. I arrived late and the light wasn't good. Saw ouzels and the LE owl though, which made up for it.

Cheers

Geoff

PS Peregrine pair calling at St James as I write this.

As can be seen from the photos in the LBC gallery, it is a rather smart second-winter bird.

Looks a bit of a unit too..

The bird walks with a bit of a limp in its right leg but otherwise looks healthy.
It is certainly feeding well.
