I have been sent the following report by Martin Yapp (email address and tel number supplied).

Hoopoe at Saltflletby B1200 Mac Farm Garage - 9th November 2008

Flew from the side of the drainage ditch opposite Mac Farm (Auto Sales). Managed to get views as it sat on the small wooden fence to the left hand side of the garage. I ran back to the motor to get my scope and camera-phone only to find the bird had disappeared off the fence. I walked slightly up the road in front of the cars and accidentally flushed the bird, which must have been on the floor close to the cars and the temporary type fence. It flew over the buildings. We did immediately check behind the garage to no avail.

It was rather a fortunate find on the way to see the Steppe Grey Shrike, if I had knew in advance that the coast was closed, I would have gone another way.
