Paul Marshall has told me of 9 or more Waxwings in the bushes at the corner of Kesteven and Tentecroft Streets at about 10:00 this morning. A quick look at 11:00 revealed nothing |

Mick Welbourn had 15 land briefly in trees at west end of Boultham mere at about 10:30 this morning. There was no sign of them in a search of suitable hawthorn bushes twenty minutes later. |

Paul and I looked again at lunchtime and there is 15 flitting about between the footbridge over the railway and the trees behind the vegetable wholesalers. That suggests why Mick couldn't relocate them Not bad - less than 10 minutes walk from work |

This afternoon there were c40 Waxwings in the area at the bottom of Tentecroft Street, Lincoln. At about 13:30 I was watching 19 in an ash tree, behind the little industrial estate, when a flock of c20 flew over low, calling. Later there were 26 in the same ash tree. With Dean Eades & his dad. |

After a successful day out at the Farforth RL Buzzard site and a visit to Cleethorpes (beach area behind the Discovery Centre), I decided to try for the Waxwings at the end of Tentercroft Street. At 3.30pm there were still 7 Waxwings in the large Sycamore tree behind the veg and fruit wholesalers. Regards, Freddy |

They were spooked by a sparrowhawk shortly after Freddy left but then were favouring a tree close to the railway footbridge at 13:30 Good views of them feeding on berries in two small trees close to the end of Tentetecroft Street. Counted 27 Nice to meet Freddy and Steve |

Katherine, Be patient! It looks like a very good "Waxwing Winter" - a flock could turn up near you soon. Keep an eye on any trees laden with berries - Rowan, Hawthorn, Viburnum, etc.- and Crab Apples. Good Luck! Regards, Freddy |

30 Waxwings still present this morning at 08:45, in large ash tree behind the pine factory on the industrial estate at the bottom of Tentecroft Street. Also feeding on berries on edge of Tentecroft Street car park. |

Up to c20 Waxwings still frequenting the pink- berried Rowan trees at the bottom of Tentercroft Street on/off today(Monday) 1.00-2.00pm. (Increasing number of Starlings also present.) Nice to meet up again with Dean Eades (and his Dad) and RSPB colleague Colin Goulding (and Richard Jones)..... These "twitching" events can often be pleasant social occasions,too! Regards, Freddy |

Unknown number of Waxwings still present this morning (Tuesday). Mistle Thrush appears to have claimed their favourite berry tree and is chasing them off each time they arrive. I can see these great birds (distantly) from my office window! Alan |
