Ed Mackrill and I spent an enjoyable day surveying brent geese for the breeding success, at Frampton 878 DB on the scalp only 13 young, also 1 merlin and c400 teal on the new lagoons, and 3 or 4 lapland buntings in the grassland or upper saltmarsh.
Freiston, c 1200 DB but many on tide edge and to distant to age,
on adjacent fields were c 5000 golden plover which we searched through for 20 mins only 1 semi albino found looking rather piebald,
Have surveyed 3300 brent and found about 1.7% young, so a very poor breeding year. John.
