Further to Russell Hayes' report of 2 SEOs on Nocton Fen 25 Nov:
I parked (facing the Factory) about half-way along the front of the Pits, just off the Causeway metalled road, at the entrance to the track going to the Pumping Station (3.00 - 4.00pm)
One SEO appeared in the light rain at 3.20pm, hunting along the dyke in front of the Pits. It then came over the car, circled around and flew down the track to the Pumping Station.
Thanks, Russell, for the stake-out gen.
Also incl. :

Barn Owl
Fieldfare - c75
Mute Swan - c50 in the field opposite the very sharp bend in the road (towards the Delph)
Grey Heron - 2

Regards,

Freddy

At least 2 but may be more Short-eared Owls present again today in front of pits.

2 Barn Owls including a very pale one (almost white) along the road to Wasps Nest.

67 Mutes still

Further to Russell's posting, I managed just a single SEO this p.m. but had three Barn Owls by the pits. I also saw a Marsh Harrier heading down the fen towards Wasps Nest and had c400 Fieldfares in the hawthorn bushes on the bank of the Witham.
