Still 25 or so Waxwings present on Tentercroft Street again today. Thanks to Russell's original photograph of a ringed bird, and some others that I've taken of ithe same bird, Mark Grantham at the BTO has tracked this bird down to be the solitary male (NV50378) trapped and ringed at Gibraltar Point on 15th November.

Waxwings still present at mid-day Friday (5th Dec), seemingly oblivious to the noise of a pneumatic drill only 15 metres away. The berries on the rowans are disappearing at a rapid rate now and may only just last the week-end. Might be worth finding other examples of this particular ornamental rowan which is the Chinese White-fruited Rowan (Sorbus glabrescens) in the Lincoln area, and start checking these next week. There is one tree near the car sales place on Dixon Street.
