Post subject:  Saltfleet 14.12

A fairly quiet late morning amble produced 68 Snow Buntings (down from the winter peak of 161 on 1st December - although early morning usually produces the highest numbers before some move off to feed elsewhere).

Also a single Woodcock and a fair few thrushes in the buckthorn with c40 Blackbirds, 14 Redwing, 12 Song Thrushes and 3 Fieldfare. There were also 25 Wigeon flying north at sea.

Whilst doing the monthly WeBS on Saltfleetby Theddlethorpe n n r,
sightings included, 7 water pipits, c 45 rock pipits 2 short eared owls,
c 800 teal and c450 wigeon,476 curlew, also c 140 redwings c 50 blackbirds and 31 fieldfare all feeding on sea buckthorn fruit.
There has been up to 14 water pipits at Donna Nook, and another
250 teal. John.
