Just been informed by Dean Nicholson that Andy Sims has found a drake ring-necked duck at Boultham Mere.
Might pop over this lunchtime.
Cheers
Brian

PS. Managed to connect with the bird and had about 150 pink-footed geese over westwards whilst walking back to car.

I nearly didn't do my local patch today due to miserable weather, the mere having been mostly frozen yesterday and having to go to Lowestoft this afternoon for a North sea survey.
Glad I did as I found a drake Ring-necked Duck on the one small area of unfrozen water. It was with 6 Tufted Duck and a drake Pochard and was still present when I left 25 minutes ago.
Good start to the year with a new bird for my patch.

Marvellous - it is dark when I leave in the morning and it is dark when I get home again in the evening

Where have I been all day - well work of course and since Monday

So I look at the forum in my lunchbreak to see what is about - only to find a ring-necked duck within 3 miles of my back gate and earlier this week a ferruginous duck about 4 miles away from home

Somebody up there has an evil sense of humour. So frustrating but I do feel some TOIL coming on
