I think you are 8 months ahead of yourself Russell!

In any case can I add that this afternoon, in addition to the above, the female scaup was on the main pit, where there were several pinkfeet mixed in with the greylag flock, a kingfisher was fishing in the drain leading to the pumping station and there were 3 barn owls and a single short-eared owl hunting the rough area just inside the pit gates.

short eared owl was briefly hassled by a barn owl which gave a nice comparison of size
green woodpecker feeding field adjacent to Neville Wood

I counted 99 swans but could only find 4 bewicks as i was shaking that much in the bitterly cold wind

Thanks for the Tawny Owl Russell - I would never have found it on my own
