I have received the ringing details for a Swedish-ringed Goldcrest caught at Seacroft on 05/11/2008, and was surprised to find that it had been ringed on 05/10/2008 at 65 degrees and 34 minutes North right up on the Swedish/Finnish border. The ringing site is less than 1 degree from the Arctic Circle, and Mark Grantham at the BTO has confirmed that this is the most northerly origin of any foreign-ringed Goldcrest to be found in Britain. Only three have travelled a greater distance, (originating from further East) - one from Finland and two from Russia.

Great record!

Make the most of it Alan, if these West winds continue there may not be any Goldcrests on the coast this year??
