Earlier this year, Andy Chappell and other members of the Mid-Lincs Ringing Group constructed an artificial Sand Martin nesting "bank" at our constant effort ringing site near Donington on Bain. This would not have been possible without the generous support of the land owners. Andy was slightly disappointed that only one of the 32 "holes" were initially occupied but was delighted to ring six pulli (nestlings) on Monday 6th July. The data will be recorded under the BTO Nest Record Scheme and, as far as I am aware, these are the first pulli of the species to be ringed in the county (unless anyone knows any different!).
