A five hour ringing session at Donington on Bain this morning produced:
1 Kingfisher.
1 Wren.
4 Willow Warblers.
2 Chiffchaffs.
29 Sedge Warblers.
5 Reed Buntings.
9 Reed Warblers.
2 Grasshopper Warblers.
2 Whitethroats.
4 Blackcaps.
1 Great Tit.
1 Linnet.

This is the most Sedge Warblers the Mid-Lincs R.G. have ever ringed in a single day since its formation in 1974! The age ratio was virtually 50/50 adults to juveniles and the brood patches of some of the females indicate they are still breeding so it looks like a bumper year. Conversely there were only 4 juvenile Reed Warblers.
