A visit to a regularly used site near Market Rasen yesterday morning confirmed suspicions that the weather has made it a poor breeding season. Normally I could expect 60+ birds, mostly juvenilesbut caught only 37 birds in total. Apart from nine Chiffchaffs and a Whitethroat, there were no juvenile warblers. Adult female Blackcaps and Garden Warblers showed good brood patches so I suspect they have laid again after first attempts failed. Is this the same throughout the county? |
