Alkborough Flats was 100% frozen over this am until the rising spring tide started to push under the ice and lift it producing a weird spectrum of noises as the ice heaved and creaked; a Brown Hare had obviously wandered into the middle of the inundation area while it was snow covered and suddenly found itself marooned by rising flood water; it then set off and had to swim across two wide and deep channels and crash over 200m of breaking ice and freezing water to reach the safety of the shore; end result a very wet and bedraggled and no doubt chilly hare --
