Post subject:  Pygmy Shrew - Pleasure Island

I think it's a first for me..... Very friendly pygmy shrew looking for an office job at Pleasure Island.

Cornered it and scooped it up into my hands, where it happily pottered about before being released outside.
Considering the size of it, i can't help thinking that my colleagues screams were slightly over the top...

It's surprising just how much wildlife we get here at the park. Just a few weeks ago I was called to collect a bat that our fitters had knocked out of it's roost (subsequently cared for and released by the local bat handler).

Every summer we play host to hundreds of nesting swallows, and our lake is utilised by breeding waterfowl and amphibians.
Squirrels, pheasants and foxes are regularly seen, and owls have been heard hooting at night. We've got a wide variety of bugs, beasties and spiders, and all the insect eating birds to go with them.

A wonderful, unitentional nature reserve!
