At 20.45 last night 3rd August I had a single Otter swimming downstream in the Louth Canal just west of Tetney Lock at TA338018. It was swimming at the surface about 25m away with its nose creating quite a bow wave which caught my eye. My initial impression was "that's a big water vole", I then put my bins on it and confirmed what I scarcely believed, an otter my first in Lincolnshire. It then dived and did not reappear. Whole sighting lasted about 10 seconds.
