The sperm whales have washed ashore off the coast of Lincolnshire at Skegness and at Gibraltar Point. They are thought to be the remaining members of a pod of whales which were spotted in The Wash on Friday. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution's Skegness base tweeted a picture of one of the whales after it was carried ashore with the 6.30am tide. Two more dead whales were also washed up south of the town. On Friday a 50ft-long whale beached on rocks at Hunstanton in Norfolk, unfortunately it later died despite rescue attempts.
