On my way home tonight up Caukwell Hill a mammal crossed the road in front of me very quickly, but it was in my headlights only briefly. It was bigger than a shrew but smaller than an adult Kodiak Bear, hairy and with a tail. But seriously folks (yeah right) it was a mustelid sp, bigger than a stoat but smaller than a mink with a bushy looking tail. Any ferrets wandering about at this time of night around here? Or polecats? Adi |

Hi Adi, Polecats are now fairly widespread in Lincs and have been seen at various coastal locations over recent months. John. |

What a small world; as I drove out of Louth today I saw this dead mammal in the middle of the road. Looks like a polecat/ferret cross; can anyone confirm or deny this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/46984194@N00/747748751/ Adi |

Thank you Dean. Another dead one today a little further along the same road, looks like the recently discovered Louth population of these polecat ferrets has been wiped out over the weekend. Adi |
