Can anyone please advise when would be a good date to visit Donna Nook to see the seal pups. Ideally would want this to be when the pup numbers are at their peak. My daughter wishes to come up and wants to come on a date when the seal pups will be there. Many thanks for any replies Greg |

Hi Greg Haven't been down yet this year but the pupping season starts about now and lasts throughout November and December; so there's no hurry! HTH Bill |

But try to avoid weekends. It can be unbelievably busy and parking can be difficult. John |

On Autumnwatch tonight they mentioned about Grey seal pups being washed away in the recent tidal surge in the Farnes? I wonder how the ones at Donna Nook fared? I should imagine they are fairly well sheltered there and it's early days yet. However on Sunday I was surprised to see a pup resting on the mud bank right up the Haven at Saltfleet Paradise and no sign of an adult. It looked OK and it was quite comical to see it slide down the bank, like a child on a slide, back into the water. Hope it will survive. Geoff |

I spoke to the LWT warden yesterday and there are good numbers on the foreshore. However, there was some mortality of pups on the outer sand banks due to the recent storm surge. He did say that you should avoid weekends as it is very busy. |

The peak number of pups is usually late nov into early dec. 64000 visitors thru the pupping season last year. over 1000 volunteer man days given to wardening and advising etc, as well as 2 paid staff. John. |
