Post subject: | Silver Y's take over the world... |
Hi all Have just extrapolated numbers of Silver Y on RSPB Freiston Shore from last Friday (28th July) and come up with an astonishing: 977,320 in the northern half of the wetland trail alone, with a possible 1,750,881 over the whole of the wetland trail area. I didn't go to the southern section that day, so its purley guesswork how many were in that area. Maybe someone could tell that Woodchat that the feedings even better down here.... cheers, PF. |

thats pretty astonishing. How did you arrive at 1,750,881 and not 1,750,900? |

He clearly counted them individually, hats off to that man, I myself would have opted for the multiples of 10 technique which would have brought me to a conservative 1,750,880 ! Trev |

(Anyone not bursting into song right now ?) Actually, did a two meter wide transect across the field, then multiplied up by the area of the reserve. Reasonably confident about the first figure, but didn't go into the southern section so unwise to comment on that really, even though the habitat is similar. Still no sign of that Woodchat down here either..... |
