After a holiday up in the wilds of Scotland I've tried to start mothing again in the garden (weather permitting). Recent new species for year include dark spinach, yellow-barred brindle and six-striped rustic. Had another hummingbird hawk on the 10th after a break of a month or so without any records. Pete I use 15watt actinic lamp (bit like a minature flourescent strip lamp) over a wooden skinner trap. The light is not too obvious to the neighbours. Seems to work quite well a attracting garden moths but I've limited success with it out in the wilds using a power inverter and a car battery. Cheers Brian |
