A four hour visit today produced my best butterfly sighting of the year in the county, in the form of a Dark-green Fritillary!!It was watched along a drainage dyke between the poplar wood and railway crossing and also photographed(See the album)it was in far from good nick, but you can just about make out that it is that species. This is my first sighting of this occasional visitor in Linc's.Other numbers and species recorded where as follows:

38 Wall
19 Peacock
13 Large White
30 Green-veined White
28 Small White
95 Painted Lady
14 Meadow Brown
10 Small Tortoiseshell
4 Small Copper
5 Common Blue
16 Gatekeeper
8 Brown Argus
1 Essex Skipper(My first sighting for the site).
5 Small Skipper

Regards

Steve.

Hi steve,
Many many years ago(25Yrs??)i had a frittilary on atkinsons warren ,i chased it for ages before it settled, got home looked in my observers book of butterflys!!!,narrowed it down to dark green, joe duddington told me he thought it would be that, other than that ,One frittilary shot past me on Risby warren once but lost that.
Nice one Steve.
