Butterflys today at Chambers wood. small and large skippers 1 essex skipper large, small and green veined whites purple hairstreak small copper common blue 2 white admiral painted lady, many all in pristine condition small tortoiseshell peacock comma speckled wood 1 marbled white gatekeeper meadow brown ringlet 19 species in all. A silver washed fritillary spotted last thur/friday Colin. |

Hi Colin, A very comprehensive list of species yesterday (Monday). Your note of a Silver-washed Fritillary seen at Chambers Farm Wood on 16/17 July is interesting. Most unlikely to be a genuine Lincolnshire butterfly, of course, but just a genuine "release". Coincidentally, Silver-washed Fritillaries are being recorded these days at Eaton Wood near Retford, just across the border in Nottinghamshire, along with lots of Silver-studded Blues at Lindrick Common, Worksop.........both sites being in the very centre of traditional Midlands 'release country'.
