Not many butterflies in the grassland area but where it borders the quarry with abundant buddleia it was heaving with butterflies. Never seen so many painted ladies or peacocks in my life. Reminded me of monarch butterflies from a trip to California.

Painted Lady 400-500
Peacock 150
Essex skipper 1
Small Skipper 9
Speckled wood 5
Gatekeeper 18
Meadow Brown 10
Large White 100
Comma 1
Small Tortoiseshell 4
Common Blue 20
Small White 12
Brown Argus 2
Green-veined White 3
Plus frequent six-spot burnets and silver Y moths

Cheers
Brian
